CAMP KREM
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES YEAR-ROUND PROGRAM & SUMMER CAMP - HOW TO APPLY
YEAR – ROUND (Sept.- May)
Since 1957, Camping Unlimited has offered outdoor recreational programs and summer camp activities for children and adults of all disabilities that may include Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Autism, physical or emotional differences . Volunteers can join our weekend programs where they participate in a wide variety of outdoor activities such as hiking at state parks, attending sporting events or going to amusement parks. They sometimes attend cultural programs, see theatrical productions, go boating, swimming and more. Favorite activities include camping and exploring at our very own Camp Krem, in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Opportunities are also available to go on extended travel camps to places such as Lake Tahoe, Yosemite, Washington or Disneyland. Volunteers sign up 1-2 weeks in advance for any activity or trip of their choice. The monthly dates and information for all activities will be posted on the web site. Volunteers will also be on our mailing list and receive our quarterly newsletter with trips available.
Counseling can be a wonderful learning and life experience with many challenges but great rewards. It requires leadership, patience, a sense of humor and good judgment. Volunteers monitor the safety and care of campers. Under supervision, they also help with the camper’s personal care that may include dressing, feeding or toileting. Counselors learn new job skills and have a wonderful time learning new recreational activities and exploring the great outdoors. On all events, Volunteers are transported via Camping Unlimited vehicles and can be picked up/returned from Emeryville, Santa Cruz or San Jose.
See our Fall Travel Schedule for dates you can volunteer. We would love to see you.
